Limited Time Special Offer:
Restore Windows-Makes Your Computer Run Like New-$99!
Back-Up:
If you have not already done so, backing up your stuff should be the first thing to do before fiddling with anything, especially any “recovery or restore” discs. It is really the only cost effective way to minimize your loss if something goes wrong or the original drive fails. This can be done by adding a separate hard drive to your system (internal or external) or consider one of the recent “off-site” strategies offered like Carbonite®, Mosy®, VaultLogix® etc. All Brands Computer too, offers a similar service. And in recent years we have really had a need for more storage. Gone are the days of burning a disk or two…how many songs, documents, pictures, movies, emails are on your system?
Any of these approaches is better than simply trusting your system will not fail…the NASA space shuttle leaves with plan A, B, C, D etc on board-and it has never come home on plan “A”. Even then it has had catastrophic failures.
• For small amount data backups (up to 4GB) to DVD we charge a flat fee of $75.00
• For larger backups up to 500GB we charge $125.00
• Ask about our Data Backup Service that includes a FREE hard drive
(internal for desktop or external for laptop) up to 500GB for $199.99
Prices quoted above are for data only from working hard drives.

Tune-Up:
Things running a little poky lately? You’re not alone, almost half the calls we receive involve slow systems. Part of the challenge is Windows® itself. It is now (Windows 7®) sporting over 50 million lines of code including over 50 layers of inter-dependencies! (that’s code for the relationships amongst updates) I didn’t believe it either… Google it. It’s huge and complex. Consider this: It has taken 1000′s of educated, skilled, experienced software engineers over 20 years to write this program! Adding to the mix is today’s internet-it’s huge and complex and changing. So you can see…we turn the whole thing on (Windows), introduce typical anti-virus/spyware software and get all hooked up (to the ‘net) then open your favorite browser, maybe some tunes or a movie trailer while we simultaneously do our banking, schedule bills, manage stocks, file taxes, socialize on FaceBook®, surf our habits, Twitter® a bit, find a deal on Craigslist®, or Ebay®, send emails and instant messages at will, with real time weather, market updates, ski reports, and news flashes from our favorite network, all running in the background….whew!-get’s involved fast! and all before our first cup of coffee!
Then, over time add the seemingly endless updates, 100’s of them, and after about a couple years of everyday use, software gets tired and confused-it can’t find things as fast or at all. Windows slows down, hunting for who know what, prompting us with errors, taking longer to start up, then things grow intermittent or stop working. Maybe you’ve tried 2 or 3 of the best “fix it” softwares out there, but they cannot restore it’s performance. It seems they are better at keeping monsters (adware etc) out than getting them out once they accumulate.
Furthermore, as you’ve probably already experienced, most aging system software does not just get better on it’s own. And trying to find a little bad code here and there proves impractical-I could find that infamous “needle in the haystack” in less time. A better, long-term solution is rather than “fix” the old installation of Windows, is to start fresh-wipe the drive, including any “monsters” and reinstall Windows. Even Microsoft will instruct you to do the very same thing. They contend the average “life” of a Windows XP installation is about 22 months. From the time it’s installed to when it begins to misbehave for a variety of reasons is about two years. It’s the number one call we receive…slow, infected, Windows software. It’s just what happens over time of normal use to a program that big.
I know there are others who have the skill to edit the registry and runs various scans and perform numerous “tricks” to clean up a system, but we, like Microsoft, contend there’s nothing like a brand new, squeaky clean install right off the original source-and they are the authors. Our system restoration work rarely comes back. It’s as good as the day it was shipped. Sounds daunting? Don’t have discs? Don’t have time?… Call for details. 970-221-4560. Turn around for system software restoration is 2-4 days.

Hop-Ups:
Feeling the need for a little more, hmm something?-A hotter video card, or a big storage drive, maybe you need more USB ports, or a DVD Burner? A boost in RAM can really improve an out of balance, under resourced, system especially running later programs like Vista® or now Windows 7®. While XP can cruise comfortable with about a 1GB, of RAM, think 3-4GB running Vista®/7®. A hard drive up grade can really be nice…now you have all your media in one place and can use it all from one place. It seems everything is USB and having an open port may be needed for that next new gadget. Don’t know what available for your unit? Just call and let us know what you would like to add to you system. With part in hand, typical turn around for this service is 1-2 days.

Give Up:
There comes a time…If you’re working with dated, unsupported software or aging, slower hardware, you are really left on your own and it can be a challenge if not technically impossible keeping it going with all of today’s offerings and software compatibilities issues. Newer is in fact different than the ten+ year ago look and feel, but it is so much more useful and powerful. It can be frustrating trying to stay reasonable current…but it can leave you insane ignoring things all together. Did you know that insane means “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome”…sound familiar? Spend some time to get going again with a modern environment and move with it a little at a time-you will be so much happier in the end.
